Year started with Sovereign: 2014

When I first joined Sovereign as a playground consultant it was from a background of commercial finance. I probably understood more about funding and how hard that is, than actually creating playgrounds. Years on, with fantastic support and in-depth training from my colleagues and many hours spent listening to Heads and teachers about their children’s needs, I love my role of developing new play spaces to enable children to grow and learn in a fun way.

As a mum to three children, one of whom is a 10-year-old boy who doesn’t like football but lives for his playtime at school, I appreciate the need to build a play space that that encourages all children to engage in a wide range of physical activity and learn to develop their social relationships with their peers. Many a playtime fall out and make up again story have I listened to!

My personal love of fitness comes from HIIT classes at the gym, particularly explosive movements such as tuck jumps, and using equipment to improve my strength, mobility and balance. These are all really simple skills that can be built into a playground.

Best thing about my job:

In today’s world where many parents fear allowing their young children the freedom to play outside independently, to be able to be part of a team that creates that safe environment for children to have fun in a playground gives me a real buzz.

Favourite playtime game as a child:

What Time Is It, Mr Wolf?

Favourite piece of Sovereign Play equipment:

Tree Top Tangle Trail because it offers the opportunity to challenge all age groups in their physical development

Case Study:

“The installation of the new playground has been more successful than we could have ever hoped. The large pergola has made a wonderful shaded area from the sun and we’ve been able to have activities outside when it’s raining too. The surface change has made the transition of outdoors to indoors, much easier, with no need to change muddy shoes or wellies. Bikes and trikes are much easier to manoeuvre around the flat surface. The mud kitchen, climbing unit and adventure mound are firm favourites. Staff and children enjoy the outdoor space so much more!”

Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it

Thank you for the amazing job your people did on our playground recently. It looks fantastic. The photographs actually do not do it justice. It looks amazing and has been admired by all who have seen it. The children love it too. Once again thank you for your excellent customer service. It's been a pleasure.

The children are absolutely delighted with the trail and it looks fantastic! I have ‘Tweeted’ some pictures and tagged Sovereign Play in, and one of your colleagues has been in touch with regard to re using it which is of course fine!

I had a look at the play equipment with my grandson yesterday. He gave it a big thumbs up. There were other families there and they all thought it was great. It looks very impressive and value for money, I'm very happy. I have and will recommend Sovereign to others.
