Year started with Sovereign: 2015

I am very education focused in my approach to schools and that forms a huge part of my designs – I try to cover as many of the framework areas in outside spaces as possible so schools can utilise what budgets they have in creating the perfect space.

As well as a long career in the education sector, I have also worked in Sports Management and Corporate Finance.

Personally, I have recently retired from playing National League Rugby. I now enjoy watching my two boys play rugby and I also coach the club’s U18 Girls team. We are a very outdoors family and keep fit by getting out on the water as much as possible, paddle-boarding, kayaking and swimming along the south coast, local rivers and waterways. We also love walks around our home in Arundel and the South Downs National Park with the dog. My wife is a teacher, so we are a very educationally-minded family.

Best thing about my job:

I love this job as I’m able to visit a school with a drab and dreary outside space and turn it into something that the children are excited to play in. Going back to visit a space when works are finished is fantastic as you can see how much it changes the positive dynamics of the play and how much enjoyment it gives to the children.

Favourite playtime game as a child:

Growing up in rural West Sussex, I was lucky to be surrounded by amazing countryside and a favourite game as child was hide and seek (man hunt) in the woods with friends. The card game Uno is a family favourite, we have to buy a new one each year as we use it so much!

Favourite piece of Sovereign Play equipment:

My favourite pieces of equipment are the Clamber Stacks, especially the Titan – so many different play opportunities both physical and imaginative.

Case Study:

Sherington pre-school

“The installation of the new playground has been more successful than we could have ever hoped. The large pergola has made a wonderful shaded area from the sun and we’ve been able to have activities outside when it’s raining too. The surface change has made the transition of outdoors to indoors, much easier, with no need to change muddy shoes or wellies. Bikes and trikes are much easier to manoeuvre around the flat surface. The mud kitchen, climbing unit and adventure mound are firm favourites. Staff and children enjoy the outdoor space so much more!”

Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it

Thank you for the amazing job your people did on our playground recently. It looks fantastic. The photographs actually do not do it justice. It looks amazing and has been admired by all who have seen it. The children love it too. Once again thank you for your excellent customer service. It's been a pleasure.

The children are absolutely delighted with the trail and it looks fantastic! I have ‘Tweeted’ some pictures and tagged Sovereign Play in, and one of your colleagues has been in touch with regard to re using it which is of course fine!

I had a look at the play equipment with my grandson yesterday. He gave it a big thumbs up. There were other families there and they all thought it was great. It looks very impressive and value for money, I'm very happy. I have and will recommend Sovereign to others.
