Year started with Sovereign: 2003

When you’re at school, designing playgrounds isn’t often a career opportunity that is highlighted as a career path. My sales background began in engineering, but many of my customers were from the play industry and I’d always thought it might be an interesting sector to work in. When I was offered the opportunity to be part of the Sovereign team, I had no hesitation in making the decision to join!

Initially working as an Area Manager, I loved my job. It was really refreshing to work alongside enthusiastic Heads, leaders and school councils to transform play spaces. Because I enjoyed my role so much, I thrived on professional growth and soon took over a small team which, over the years, has expanded into the vibrant and dedicated team it is today.

I’m keen on fitness and wellbeing and the positive effect it has on me. I’ve run a number of half marathons and enjoy going to the gym, skiing and mountain biking. These activities take me away from day-to-day stresses and I’ve always tried to design spaces that do the same, incorporating imagination and challenges that make you focus on what you’re doing at that exact moment.

Favourite piece of Sovereign Play equipment:

The Yosemite. It has a perfect mix of varying physical challenges for older and younger children and plenty of places for imaginative play.

Best thing about my job:

Joining everyone on team days; meeting clients and seeing how children use the spaces we create which often leads to new product ideas and practices we can develop to meet ever-changing needs.

Favourite playtime game as a child:

Flicky 1, 2, 3. Similar to hide and seek, but there was a base you had to get back to without been caught.

Case Study:

Sherington pre-school

“The installation of the new playground has been more successful than we could have ever hoped. The large pergola has made a wonderful shaded area from the sun and we’ve been able to have activities outside when it’s raining too. The surface change has made the transition of outdoors to indoors, much easier, with no need to change muddy shoes or wellies. Bikes and trikes are much easier to manoeuvre around the flat surface. The mud kitchen, climbing unit and adventure mound are firm favourites. Staff and children enjoy the outdoor space so much more!”

Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it

Thank you for the amazing job your people did on our playground recently. It looks fantastic. The photographs actually do not do it justice. It looks amazing and has been admired by all who have seen it. The children love it too. Once again thank you for your excellent customer service. It's been a pleasure.

The children are absolutely delighted with the trail and it looks fantastic! I have ‘Tweeted’ some pictures and tagged Sovereign Play in, and one of your colleagues has been in touch with regard to re using it which is of course fine!

I had a look at the play equipment with my grandson yesterday. He gave it a big thumbs up. There were other families there and they all thought it was great. It looks very impressive and value for money, I'm very happy. I have and will recommend Sovereign to others.
