Fitness and education have both played a huge part in my life. I have an honours degree in Sport, Health & Exercise from Durham University, and a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in Physical Education, which I practiced for many years in primary, secondary and special educational needs settings, and also in a number of sports and fitness-related environments. I’ve also coached at a variety of levels and played sports at county and university levels.
Best thing about my job:
One of the things I love most about working at Sovereign is that it allows me to creatively apply all the knowledge and experience I’ve gained as a teacher and coach into designing really exciting and safe play environments where children can be physically active and their imaginations can fly! I enjoy seeing my design come to life and the children having a lot of fun with it.
Favourite playtime game as a child:
Tiggy on High as I liked to run around a lot and climb at the same time.
Favourite piece of Sovereign Play equipment:
Captain Mannering as it has a lot of varying challenges and a real wow factor.

“The installation of the new playground has been more successful than we could have ever hoped. The large pergola has made a wonderful shaded area from the sun and we’ve been able to have activities outside when it’s raining too. The surface change has made the transition of outdoors to indoors, much easier, with no need to change muddy shoes or wellies. Bikes and trikes are much easier to manoeuvre around the flat surface. The mud kitchen, climbing unit and adventure mound are firm favourites. Staff and children enjoy the outdoor space so much more!”
