Area Manager & RPII Operational Inspector

Lewis Humphreys

South London

Year started with Sovereign: 2015

I started working for Sovereign when I was 15, working as a van labourer helping the drivers. After a couple of years, when I’d passed my driving test, I went on to be a driver myself and then on to running the logistics side of the business. Sovereign is great for providing opportunities for you to grow and develop your career – after a couple of years working as a driver, I moved to installations, eventually ending up managing my own team. I’m now qualified as an RPII Operational Inspector, working 3 days a week on installations and 2 days on sales.

Away from work, I’m a big rugby and motorsport fan, especially Formula 1. I’ve been to the F1 at Silverstone and have also been to the 6 Nations in France, Italy and England. It’s always incredible to experience these things live!

Best thing about my job:

I love the variety of my work with Sovereign, no two days are ever the same. There are lots of different aspects to my job which keeps it interesting, and there are plenty of opportunities to learn new skills along the way. It’s also great seeing the transformation of the play areas themselves into really exciting spaces, that’s one of the best rewards!

Favourite playtime game as a child:

I moved schools a few times and lived in Marbella for a couple of years when I was a teenager. Any game involving a football would have to be top of the list, including a game where you had to throw the ball against a wall and the next person had to catch it in one bounce or you were out – it was pretty fast and chaotic and always a good laugh!

Favourite piece of Sovereign Play equipment:

It would definitely have to be the Captain Mannering. The tower construction is great for all different aspects of play: imagination, physical activity, and it really builds upper body strength. It’s also very low maintenance and will last many years, so it provides great value for money for the customer.

Case Study:

Sherington pre-school

“The installation of the new playground has been more successful than we could have ever hoped. The large pergola has made a wonderful shaded area from the sun and we’ve been able to have activities outside when it’s raining too. The surface change has made the transition of outdoors to indoors, much easier, with no need to change muddy shoes or wellies. Bikes and trikes are much easier to manoeuvre around the flat surface. The mud kitchen, climbing unit and adventure mound are firm favourites. Staff and children enjoy the outdoor space so much more!”

Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it

Thank you for the amazing job your people did on our playground recently. It looks fantastic. The photographs actually do not do it justice. It looks amazing and has been admired by all who have seen it. The children love it too. Once again thank you for your excellent customer service. It's been a pleasure.

The children are absolutely delighted with the trail and it looks fantastic! I have ‘Tweeted’ some pictures and tagged Sovereign Play in, and one of your colleagues has been in touch with regard to re using it which is of course fine!

I had a look at the play equipment with my grandson yesterday. He gave it a big thumbs up. There were other families there and they all thought it was great. It looks very impressive and value for money, I'm very happy. I have and will recommend Sovereign to others.
