South Bersted CE Primary School have transformed their outdoor play area with a cutting edge metal play tower from Sovereign Play.

The Issue

South Bersted CE Primary School aspired to provide a modern yet challenging play area for the older pupils at the School. Specifying that they didn’t want another timber structure, they sought something different but also low-maintenance that would meet their budget.

The Resolution

An initial meeting was arranged between Business Manager, Sandy Osman and Sovereign’s experienced Sales Area Manager, Richard Pennington. Together they discussed a number of options from the innovative metal ranges that Sovereign has to offer. These towers create a dramatic impact but also have low-upkeep, so Richard was confident that there would be the perfect tower to meet the brief and be on budget.

The Process

Following the initial quotation and some revisions, the School were able to complete the fundraising for their brand new play area. With the help of some successful grant applications, they were ready to place an order. They chose the metal Niagara Tower, the largest from Sovereign’s exciting Waterfall Range, with custom ropes and metalwork to match the School colours. Bonded Rubber Mulch safety surfacing was used to blend in with the natural surroundings and compliment the Niagara.

The Installation

Installation commenced and the Sovereign team worked closely with the premises staff to complete the works within two weeks. Although there was a slight delay due to poor weather, Sovereign were able to meet the deadline successfully. Richard returned to site as the installation came to an end and was on hand to resolve the remaining matters to the School’s satisfaction.

The Results

The dynamic Niagara Tower is a modern addition to the play area and has completely transformed the landscape. The School are delighted with their exciting new play area that the pupils can explore and enjoy throughout the School year.

Richard was very supportive in the early stages of this project. An initial meeting ensured our ideas and requirements were understood; we particularly wanted a low maintenance climbing frame that provided a challenge for our Upper KS2 pupils. Richard also understood our budget restrictions and the need to obtain quotes before we could even begin the fundraising process. Sovereign remained in touch over the course of the year, that was spent raising funds, but without being intrusive.

The installation was slightly delayed by a production hold up and rescheduled for the February half term. Sovereign responded promptly to requests for additional information required by the Local Authority to ensure compliance with planning, building and H&S regulations.

The installation team and equipment arrived on site as advised. The team worked with our premises staff and, apart from a slight delay due to poor weather, completed the works in the time allocated. At all times Sovereign remained in contact ensuring we were aware of any delays and that everything was working to plan. The installation team also kindly cut down and relocated part of the old equipment in the grounds.

We are very happy with the end result, the project meets our original brief and the children have really enjoyed exploring the equipment.
